2002 Activities: 67 days/37 nights to choose from (24 total activities) Winter camps, Hikes, Trout fishing, Wilderness survival, Canoe trips, Backpacking, TWO summer camps: Camp Ho Non Wah in SC & Camp Kootaga, Biking, Snow skiing, Sailing, Motor Boating, Repelling/Climbing

 

2003 Activities: 67 days/42 nights to choose from (24 total activities)

-Northern Tier Wilderness Canoe trip June 11-21 Ely, MN

-Blue Ridge Mountain Reservation: New River Adventure (white water trips),

  Mountain Man Outpost, Aquatics Base, Repelling/Climbing, Horse Back Riding

 

2004 Activities. 71 days/47 nights to choose from (26 total activities) Outdoor activities each month similar to 2002/2003

-Northern Tier Wilderness Canoe trip June 11-21 Ely, MN (yes, again, great trip!)

-Backpacking at Philmont Scout Ranch, New Mexico August 5-18

 

2005 Activities: 64 days/34 nights to choose from (32 total activities)

- High Adventure Sea Base in the Florida Keys - June 21-27

2006 Activities: Alaska Canoeing and Backpacking Adventure July 12-24

 Our troop is open to any boy who is 11-17 yrs. old, has completed his arrow of light, or has finished the 5th grade

                                   

Troop 117 is a “High Adventure Troop” – We offer EXCITEMENT

 

What to look for in a good troop:

Troop has earned Quality Unit Award

Scoutmaster has completed basic training.

Troop follows traditional troop-meeting pattern, standard troop-meeting plan with two or  more skills training groups.

Troop has a high ratio of active adults to youth.

Leaders regularly attend roundtable.

Troop meetings are planned at Patrol Leaders' Council meetings.

Woods Wisdom is used in planning Troop program.

A patrol for new Scouts exists, with a Troop Guide and Assistant Scoutmaster.

Troop adds at least ten Scouts each year.

Troop on an annual minimum of twenty-five days and nights of camping.

Troop attends a council long-term camp.

Leaders are proficient in outdoor skills.

Troop has at least twenty-one Scouts.

Troop has a program for older Scouts.
